My First Football Game With My Father

Red CardWho can forget the first football game they attend with their father, a lifelong sports fan and the man who brought magic into their lives? I will never forget the day Dad arrived with two football tickets in hand. He told me to grab my coat because we were going to have the time of our lives. As always, my father kept his promise. The FA Cup Tickets were everything I expected them to be and more. The excitement of the crowd urged my father and I to cheer louder and louder. The virtual frenzy in the stands did little to faze me. An energetic kid in the first place, I thrived in situations like this one.

Arsenal tickets were hard to come by after that first game. Dad lost his job and we were forced to stay home and watch the game on TV. Although we always had a good time, my father knew just how special FA Cup Tickets were to me. When I think of my youth, I am fond of the memories I had with my father. Football tickets and Dad were one in the same. The two brought more joy into my life than I could possible say. Putting my father in a crowded stadium with a six year old boy in a competitive setting gave him opportunities to teach me things I had yet to learn. Memorizing play after play, I became an enormous football fan as a teen and still enjoy a good game today.
